Uterine Evacuation & Surgical Curettage
Panicker’s Radical D&C Cannula
Overview
Offers optimal flexibility, strength and durability for uterine evacuation and curettage
Surgical Utility & Indications
Used after a spontaneous abortion or early miscarriage in order to ensure that no fetal tissue remains inside the uterus. If there is excess bleeding, the cannula can be retained and negative pressure maintained for 20–30 mins. Also used to stop bleeding in AUB abortions.
Technical Description & Specifications
This cannula is used for removal of Intrauterine Polyps. The cannula is inserted into the uterine cavity and connected to suction where a negative pressure of 400 mm Hg is produced. The cannula is then rotated clockwise and anticlockwise a few times, resulting in radical curettage and suction of the uterine cavity.
